Update With Random Pictures

Boston

Hey all! For some reason no matter what I do, I cannot seem to post the long update I did yesterday about my road trip. Eek! So I’ll do a quick condensed version here.

The trip went very well and I accomplished almost everything I went out there to do. The only thing I didn’t get a chance to do is take foliage pictures (other than one in Northeast Ohio, pictured below), because there was no foliage (oddly enough) in Southern New Hampshire. I saw some old friends, including an ex boyfriend with whom I made peace with. He was the guy I broke up with back in 2007 and it was a seemingly terrible relationship that propelled me into alcohol abuse, not to mention a 40+ pound weight gain. Looking back on it now, I see it was a beautiful thing and why it all happened in the first place! Anyway, I got to spend time with him, talking about metaphysical things, talking about our relationship, etc. There was a lot of love and forgiveness present.

Food-wise, I did good until the day after my last post – about two or so days into my road trip I suddenly had an overwhelming urge for fast food/dairy. It all went downhill from there food-wise! As of today however I am back on vegan eating (and actually fruit day, since it’s Thursday and class day) and will probably do it for the foreseeable future. I’m going this morning (in less than an hour, which means I better wrap this post up quick!) to get another B.E.S.T. kinesiology session with a doctor – the same kind of session mentioned in this post.

Other than diet, I did very well on the road trip. I stayed 100% sober from alcohol, which is a miracle in itself, given the fact that I was surrounded by old triggers nearly the entire time. I also did all of my daily concentration and meditation exercises every single day, no matter how tired I was or how late I got back to my hotel room. I surpassed old ideas that I’ve had of myself not having self-discipline or will power. I learned I have both of these qualities and am strengthening them each day!

I stopped by several metaphysical stores in different cities and states and managed to get a pretty interesting crystal collection going. I’ll be writing more about that on my SpiriualGal.com site later.

So anyway, I’m going to ask the doctor today about why I was triggered to eat fast food so badly on the road. I have some other things I want to talk to her about, including various spiritual experiences I’ve been having lately.

I’ll update later about how the session goes! I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday morning. Here are a few random pictures from Boston, plus a foliage picture from Ohio.

36 Hours Into My Fruit Fast

fruitmix

Hey all! I’m 36 hours into my fruit fast. I completed my fruit day successfully yesterday and have decided to extend it. I’m shooting for 3 days, but we will see. My body is really taking me through the wringer on detoxing. I’m also going through some sort of emotional cleansing – last night, I literally had nightmares all night long and woke up in panic attack mode with a racing heart, etc. Normally that would really worry me but I have intuitively received that my body and mind are just cleaning out some of the ‘old’ stuff. Things like this tend to happen when one is on a spiritual path. So, I’m not worrying about it. However, I’m hoping tonight won’t be a repeat – and I’m going to speak to my teacher about it.

Other than the detoxing, I’ve felt absolutely amazing. Every time I go a day with only fruit or juice, I’m reminded of how ‘good’ the body really can feel. I’ve been paying close attention to how foods affect me physically and taking note of how my body feels for a few hours after consuming them. So far I’ve compiled a list of foods that appear to digest wonderfully, don’t leave me feeling bad and don’t cause any adverse affects on me physically: oatmeal, sweet fruit, non-sweet fruit (like cucumbers, tomatoes, etc), steamed veggies, raw veggies (eaten in smaller quantities), fish and fowl (chicken and turkey). All of those foods are on my list of ‘high vibration foods’ except the fowl, so that is excellent. It’s unfortunate however that brown rice and sprouted grain pastas and breads (including the really good ones) seem to trigger more of an appetite within an hour of eating them. Each time I consume one of them, I’m hungry again and sometimes just ‘emotionally’ hungry so fast that it doesn’t seem worth eating them.

As mentioned before, dairy causes an unpleasant sinus runoff down the back of my throat and tummy bloating, among other things. Chocolate almond milk and soy milk causes me to feel on edge. Any kind of full-sized or large meal causes me to feel tired. High sugar foods make my scalp itch and high sodium makes me bloat and makes me uncomfortable.

I do not want this post to come off like a litany of complaints about food! However, it is really interesting and eye-opening to eat various foods and then listen to and feel how your body reacts to each one. I mean, I’m seriously beginning to wonder why we should eat anything that doesn’t sit well or makes us feel physically uncomfortable or triggers cravings? It just no longer makes sense to me.

So on that note, I have decided that when I come off of this fruit fast, I’m going to start eating oatmeal a lot more often. I’ve been reading up on ways to make it really healthy and yummy with things like apple slices, raisins, nuts, cinnamon, seeds, etc etc. I’m also going to really up my veggie intake. My freezer is full of veggies: lima beans, green beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, mixed veggies, corn, etc. It’s time I put them to good use!

Here’s a picture of the salad I made the other day:

I haven’t eaten all of it yet and I’m hoping it will keep until I’m finished with the fruit fast.

Anyway, so far today I’ve had two organic bananas (and about to have a third), a tall glass of organic pineapple banana juice and half a cup of pumpkin spice coffee with cinnamon (no creamer). The coffee was only drunk because I was starting to come down with a migraine headache. It worked thank goodness and the headache is gone.

Here’s some exciting news::: If I make it through today sober (and I will, as cravings for alcohol and the obsession for it is a thing of the past), I will have been sober for the longest time consecutively since 2006!! 73 days, in case anyone is wondering.

Well, I’m off to get some things done. I will try and update here late tonight about my Fruit Fast status! (Or if I decide to break it before then, I’ll post about it). I hope everyone enjoys their Friday.
