Vegan Eating Day 4

Hey all! The vegan eating is going very well and has been quite simple. I have not had cravings for dairy.

My body is going through some sort of cleanse right now. Yesterday morning I woke up with a super white coated tongue and many detox symptoms. I was also running a bit of a fever last night, so I spent extra time in bed reading. However, I am noticing some health benefits already that I will keep an eye on and discuss later. Yesterday I finished off the batch of veggie juice I made on Tuesday and had some fresh-squeezed organic lime juice as recommended. I’m drinking the last of that now. Whew, it is some strong-tasting stuff!

I think for the time being I’m going to stick with the raw unpasteurized green vegetable & carrot juices that Whole Foods makes in their store. Their green veggie juice has celery, kale, spinach, cucumbers, wheat grass and a few other things in it. The juice I made Tuesday was pretty lousy to be honest. My Jack LaLanne juicer kind of blows.

Anyway, I’m slowly easing myself into a ‘whole foods’ way of eating. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time but didn’t know how to go about getting myself there. I’ve been one of those ‘accomplish/fix/heal something overnight or not at all’ kind of persons for some time now and it has not served me well for the most part. So now I’m laying out daily and weekly and monthly goals to get to where I want to be in various areas of my life. Right now I’m still laying it all out and I will contemplate sharing the plan once I get it set up.

As for intake… today is supposed to be fruit day but I’ve cheated a little. So far I’ve had a few bananas, green lemonade (green veggies mixed with lemons and apples), sprouted grain toast and coffee with coconut milk creamer. I am still feeling pretty lousy physically so I’m trying to take it easy, but I need to go and get some more water and juice.

In unrelated news, there is some major construction going on in the lot outside of my apartment. They start bright and early at 7am with the loud, noisy trucks! Something like this would have annoyed and upset me to no end several months ago. Believe you me, I would have contemplated going out of town or something to get away from it. It is pretty loud… and whatever they are doing over there is literally shaking my building. However, the most amazing thing has happened to me in the past few months! Now that I do daily concentration exercises, outside noises don’t bother me anymore except maybe 1% of the time! I hear all the ruckus and it will catch my attention, but then I’m easily able to tune it out and concentrate on whatever else I’m doing, including sleeping. You guys have no idea… I used to be a basket case when something would keep me from sleeping or enjoying peace and quiet. Now I can EASILY tune it out. It’s a total miracle! And I have daily concentration exercises and meditation to thank for it!

My new-found concentration skills have also enhanced my spiritual gifts and abilities. My psychic, telepathy and clairaudient abilities have become much enhanced. I regularly receive images and thoughts from people now. It’s to the point where sometimes during meditation or as I’m falling asleep at night I will continually hear inner-level chatter. I’m learning how to tune that out (thanks to my concentration exercises). I’ve been staying grounded with it all and learning to use it for the ‘good of all concerned’. One thing I’m hoping to do at some point down the line is move into a field of work where I use these skills. We shall see… I’ve been doing spiritual intuitive ‘readings’ for friends and family members. I may start offering free test readings over at spiritualgal.com.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Thursday so far! I was originally planning to be out of town this weekend (at the college again) but what with my not feeling well, I will probably stay home.

Decisions & End Of Fruit Fast

My fruit fast ended officially about ten minutes after the 65th hour (yesterday at 5:10pm). I’m very happy with this. I would have gone a full three days but I started feeling really weak and light-headed. Had I not been busy with a lot of stuff yesterday, I would have gone to bed and just rode it out, but I had too many things to do.

I feel I’ve received several benefits from the fast though. There’s been a definite slimming of the tummy and waist area, plus some internal cleansing that has taken place. My cravings for fatty, salty and dairy foods has been removed. (I credit both the fast and prayer for that). I woke up today feeling marvelous.

As we know, all great things must be accomplished one step at a time – even though I personally like doing things overnight. In reflecting on my diet and where I want to be and where I am, I realize I’m really happy at the moment. Sure, I’d love to be on my perfect ‘high vibration’ diet. However, I almost am! In the past couple of weeks, I’ve finally gotten off dairy (day 4 and I am completely committed to sticking to it, except for the week I’m at the college, more below on that) and I’m off the daily caffeine. And in the last several days, I’ve had whole and almost totally organic foods almost exclusively! I broke my fast yesterday with some oatmeal and a can of light tuna. (Not sure why those go so well together but they do). Later I had a bowl of whole wheat cereal and some of my salad.

All in all, I’ve made some important steps towards my goal.

I have decided to stick to a diet based around these organic foods: fruit, veggies and greens, potatoes, oatmeal (with a variety of stuff thrown in), fish, free range/organic chicken and turkey, brown rice and beans. I decided that perhaps now that my body is cleansed a bit, I will react better to the rice and beans (and not become hungry after an hour of eating them). I’ve decided to forgo wheat products because last night after having the wheat cereal, my scalp immediately began to itch. (I have a touch of psoriasis on my scalp that acts up with certain foods and conditions).

Eventually I will cut out the chicken and turkey, and then I’ll officially be on the high vibration diet!

The only exception I will make to dairy is when I’m up at the college from Aug 11th-Aug 18th, and there is something in their meals with dairy that cannot be avoided. Their dairy comes from their very well & lovingly cared-for cows, so I doubt it’ll be an issue.

Right now I’m having a bowl of this stuff mixed with a few raw pumpkin seeds and cinnamon, and it is DELICIOUS!

Bob's Red Mill Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats

I was worried that the oatmeal would be too plain, but it’s actually perfect. The days on fruit only cleansed my palate, so I can appreciate cleaner and more pure foods.

I’ll be eating some of these yummy Kumato tomatoes later:

Speaking of pure foods… I’m really fascinated with saints, yogis and their diets. The Peace Pilgrim, for example, lived on mostly oatmeal and fruit on her 25,000 mile walking journey – and was said to be in excellent health. Saint Germaine was reputed to live on a specially prepared oatmeal for much of his life. And many other famous and obscure yogis and holy men/women live/lived on simple boiled rice, potatoes, lentils, etc. I’ve been fascinated with this subject (food and spirituality) for some time and plan to explore it more in writing at a later time.

Anyway, I’m really happy that I’ve reached this place! Alcohol free, dairy free, mostly caffeine free, mostly craving free… I’m still over 30 pounds from my goal weight, but I’m confident that the rest of the weight will come speeding off in the months to come. Especially this month. No doubt I’ll lose a good 10 pounds or more by the end of August.

The coolest thing about the diet I’m on now is that it’s almost totally organic! Actually, the only non-organic thing I’ll be eating is fish and occasionally cucumbers, as for some reason I can’t seem to find organic cukes anywhere these days. However, the fish is all wild-caught… which makes it technically organic, right?
